What does district heating demand-side response mean?

District heating demand-side response means processes that help to lower the properties' momentary consumption of thermal energy and/or to move the consumption temporally. Demand-side response should be implemented in the way that it does not weaken the experienced indoor air quality or the service quality. The adjustments aim to stabilise consumption profiles from the level of single properties to influencing the consumption profile of the energy system in the end. Shaving hourly power peaks and stabilising consumption profiles are practical terms for demand-side management. 

How is demand-side response implemented in different properties?

In residential real estate power peaks are born by residents' use of hot water in the morning and in the evening. In other properties the use times of the spaces and especially periodic use of ventilation are the cause of power peaks. This means that demand-side response processes differ depending on the property.
